Opting to announce work sanctions about a week before Pesach, Interior Ministry officials and other civil servants are implementing sanctions today, Wednesday.
One will not be permitted to obtain a passport of teudat zehut identity card. There will be no driving exams and other government services will come to a halt as the union representing civil servants has ordered the job action over a dispute dealing with paying back employee loans.
Striking workers report to their respective offices but do not answer telephones or deal with the public. They report to work so they can receive their salaries, which are usually paid, despite the fact they do nothing during their work hours.
