69% of Israelis will eat matzah on Seder night and will not eat chametz during the holiday a survey reveals.
The survey commissioned by Aviv Matzah Company and conducted by Market Watch reveals 18% Israelis will eat matzah and chametz on Pesach, 6% will eat only chametz, while 5% state they eat matzah on Seder night only.
The survey represents a cross-section of the adult Jewish population in Israel, pointing out that those with higher education tend to be less strict regarding their observance of holiday eating customs and laws. 84% of survey participants with a high school diploma or less stated they will eat only matzah and acceptable foods while only 57% of those with higher academic degrees made the same statement.
It appears there is a difference with higher-income families as well, with 82% of lower income families observing the traditions of the holiday as compared to 55% of higher income families.

The level of Torah observance is rising Boruch Hashem. Perhaps the chazal that states “Ilmalay shamroo shtei shabbosim…” will also soon becoming of age which herald in the geulah shlaima.
the pesach seder, yom kippur, bris milah & kidushin v’nisuin are the most kept mitsvos!
kein yirbu!
OH WELL MAYBE THE COUNTRY WOULD LOOK BETTER IF SOME PEOPLE WERENT SO EDUCATED AND NOT TO WEALTHY THEY WOULD SEEMINGLY BE WEALTHIER IN THE TORAH
The survey was only about Israeli Jews.
So it’s not true that 69% of Israelis will not eat chametz. It’s probably more like 55% or so, considering that the Arabs are 20% of the country.
just wondering what % of that 69% even know what makes something chametz.heard a story recently with s/o who tasted a delicious pesach cake. when they asked for the recipe, were told that the lady bought kosher lepesach flour from the matza bakery and made a regular recipe! hmm… hmmm… p.s. there are many different aspects of making a kosher house for pesach. it doesn’t start and end with manischewitz matza and macaroons
“To think in eretz Yisroel about one-quarter will eat chometz on Pesach”.
Flatbusher, try this survey in New york among the Jews (in USA it would be even lower), and you will be lucky if you can find 20% who eat foods that are kosher lepesach. Baruch Hashem for am yisrael in eretz yisrael…..
You mean I can’t bake regular stuff with “Kosher L’Pesach Flour” that I buy from the matza bakery?
bklynmom- New York in particular, as it happens, would probably come out not that different (the percentage of religous jews is quite high), but the rest of U.S.A. would likely be the opposite of this one (69% eating chometz).
DM- just do the whole recipe (begining to end) in under 18 minutes (just kidding).
