I thought those who were born before 1957 are immune to measles.
Having other severe medical issues can impair a person’s immune system. This lady was already weakened and she just couldn’t fight off the extra challenge and make enough antibodies to defeat the virus. If she hadn’t gotten the measles from someone who probably hadn’t been vaccinated she would probably have survived.
What if it had been your grandmother? What if it had been your unvaccinated child who had infected her? Somehow it’s always different when it’s our own family that’s involved, so look at it that way. She was someone’s mother, someone’s grandmother (maybe even great-grandmother). A whole world has been destroyed that might have been saved.
