The Failed Effort By A Left-Wing Activist To Shut Yeshivat Bnei David

Attorney Yair Nehorai launched a campaign to raise funds to petition the High Court of Justice in his ongoing effort to shut the doors of the prominent Bnei David mechina yeshiva, located in Yishuv Eli in Shomron. After three months, Nehorai failed to meet his NIS 200,00 goal to establish his legal fund.

Chadashot News correspondent Yair Shariki reports the left-wing activist lawyer Nehorai has been working tenaciously to shut the doors of the flagship mechina in Israel but has not reached his objective after three months of work.

Nehorai feels that Bnei David, which has officers and soldiers serving in the most elite units in the branches of the IDF, has “an agenda” and it is not “just an ordinary mechina delivering shiurim” to the talmidim. He appears obsessed with his need to see the yeshiva shut down, especially over the past months, with rabbonim affiliated with Bnei David making the news, speaking out against mixed units in the IDF, as well a toeiva in the military as well as speaking against the Toeiva Parade in Yerushalayim. Rabb Yigal Levinstein has also spoken out in strong terms against the Chief Education Officer, who he accuses of trying to destroy the IDF Rabbinate.

In short, being religious and right-wing, and having hundreds of officers currently serving in all the ranks of the IDF, including a graduate serving as military secretary to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, is too much for Nehorai and his left-wing agenda.

Nehorai turned to his followers on Facebook, confident he would raise the funds for his noble mission, which seems to have failed. He promised that “Every shekel raised would be used towards what is becoming a messianic army, and he feels the primary source for this is Bnei David, but his followers do not seem to feel his cause is worth the investment.

  1. > has “an agenda”

As long as the “agenda” is from Israeli citizens themselves, just what is the problem? Isn’t this a Democracy where every citizen is allowed (one could even say encouraged) to promote their own agenda?
