Tel Aviv district police report making 12 arrests involving suspects believed to have been operating a bogus telemarketing operation, swindling the elderly out of their money.

The 12 were arrested after police began monitoring the sting operation, and they were all arraigned in a local court.

On Sunday, 8 Teves, the court accommodated a police request to extend their detention until Thursday, to permit the continuing investigation without them being permitted to interfere. It is likely that their detention will be extended once again on Thursday or alternatively, police will be ready to move ahead with criminal indictment and ask they be held without bail pending the outcome of their trial.
