Only a month ago, upon entering his port, Tiveria Mayor Ron Kobi visited the streets of the city, accompanied by members of the press. He complained of how the city’s sanitation has been ignored and neglected, pointing to trash that has accumulated over the years along boardwalks and city street.
Kobi promised that he would undertake a major clean-up campaign, posting a promise to this effect on his Facebook page, speaking of an unprecedented widespread cleaning campaign of the city and beaches, involving an assortment of vehicles and city workers to reach all areas.
However, now, suddenly, it appears Tiveria will not be getting cleaner as Mayor Kobi announced there are no more funds remaining to pay a company to continue providing sanitation services. He explains the budget for sanitation for the coming months is gone, used irresponsibly by the previous administration. He explains the company providing the service has been informed the move is temporary, and the mayor calls on residents to keep the city clean for the time being.
