The Joint Prices Committee of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the Economy is expected to recommend that the price of bread products under government regulation be increased by 3.5% in the coming days. At the request of the bakeries, the committee convened to update the supervised price due to the increase in production costs and ingredients. In addition, the increase in the electricity rate will also affect the regulated price. The current rate update does not require the signature of Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and Economy Minister Eli Cohen, who cannot stop the increase.
This was reported by Nitai Anavi, the economic correspondent for Galatz Radio.
The Ministry of Finance has not responded to the report.
The Joint Committee of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture estimates that supervised dairy products will increase by between 2.45% to 5.8%. The increase in prices of bread is in addition to a rise in prices of other products such as electricity, which is going to increase in January 2019 for 43% of domestic electricity consumers, an increase of 8.1%.
Osem also announced this week that prices for one-third of its products will increase by 2% to 4.5%.
