Following the Syrian lead, Lebanon over the weekend moved its border forces to a heightened alert status, announcing it too is fearing an Israeli attack.
Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora on Friday ordered the heightened alert status, announcing he fears Israel during its national preparedness drills in the coming week may use the opportunity to “violate Lebanon’s sovereignty”.
The senior Lebanese official also warned United Nations peacekeepers along the border to exhibit vigilance against Israeli violations.
