Two border policemen sustained moderate injuries during the predawn hours of Thursday morning, 5 Teves, in the so-called Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City, near the Shar Shechem.

The Palestinian attacker approached two officers at their post on Hagai Street, pulled out a knife and stabbed them.

The initial call came into MDA shortly after 5:00AM. According to MDA, a border policeman sustained wounds to his head and is in light condition, and was transported to Shaare Zedek Hospital. The second border police officer, a female, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital with penetrating injuries to her extremities.

The two are in their 20s and are both in stable condition.

The attacker was shot dead. The quick action of the border police may have prevented additional injuries to people heading to the Kosel for neitz.

“Units respond, terrorist shot. Heightened security in area,” police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said in a tweet.
