When she took office, Justice Minister (Bayit Yehudi) Ayelet Shaked promised to work diligently towards normalizing life for the residents of Yehuda and Shomron, and to legalize as many outposts as possible. Now, the outpost of Hareshah, which is located in the Binyamin Regional Council of Shomron, is legal, and with this new declaration, a long-awaited access road to the community will be paved. As such, Shaked has come through again towards legalizing an illegal outpost.
After receiving the backing of the Attorney General and legal experts, the decision was made to legalize the community and permit going ahead with building a paved access road, which was at the heart of the legal complexities involving the community.
The community is located in Western Binyamin, overseeing Gush Talmonim, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Modi’in. Founded in January 1997, it is home to fewer than 100 families.
A special methodology will be used to build the road which passes through private Palestinian fields, a problematic section reported to be 121 meters in length, permitting the Palestinian farmers to continue working their fields uninterrupted, in line with the expert legal opinions for legalizing the community.
