Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Wednesday morning met in his Jerusalem office with former IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz, who has signaled he is considering entering the political arena in the next Knesset elections.
Walla reports that according to sources familiar with the content of the meeting, they did not discuss political matters, but security consultations were held as part of Netanyahu’s entry into the Defense Ministry. Some feel the talks were likely an effort to bring Gantz into Likud, to serve as the Defense Minister in the next administration rather that running against Likud as head of his own new party.
A recent Walla poll reported that in elections for Knesset, Gantz would head the second largest party with 19 seats in Knesset.
