An 11-year-old and 14-year-old from Betar Illit on Tuesday 22 Nissan 5773 fell into a 10 meter (32.8 feet) deep pit during an isru chag hike with their father near the Maaros Chazon near Moshav Amatzya in the Lachish region. The boys and their father were hiking, enjoying the last days of bein hazmanim.
Search & rescue responders were dispatched along with EMS personnel. The children were responsive to the voices of rescuers, who were relieved to learn the victims were conscious upon their arrival on the scene. They sustained numerous fractures and possible internal injuries, and after an almost two-hour rescue effort, the victims were brought to the surface with the assistance of firefighters. Magen David Adom emergency medical personnel were on hand to begin treating and stabilizing the young victims.
Their conditions were described as serious/stable at the time of transport. An MDA chopper transported them to the trauma unit of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Yerushalayim.
The area where the incident occurred is closed to visitors due to the dangers of the terrain. The area is supposed to be fenced off. Despite similar incidents in the area in the past, some ending in death, the dangers remain open, unmarked, without fences or any warning to hikers unfamiliar with the area. The area in which the two fell was not at all closed. Police have launched an investigation.

Instead of major investigation, JUST SHUT THE HOLE OFF IMMEDIATELY.
The police do not care about environmental hazards especially in Haredi areas. This simply gives them a hunting license to arrest somebody. Let the rabbis, teachers, and politicians make a statement and maybe put up a few posters. If the people listen fine; if not, not.
Names for Tehillim?
The police do not care about environmental hazards especially in Haredi areas. —- 1. this is not a Haredi area where this terrible accident happened, it is a tourist place 2. Environmental hazards are overlooked especially by Charedim – might be slightly more accurate.
