New Knesset Poll: Likud 29, Gimmel 6, Shas 4

A new Knesset poll conducted by Professor Camille Fuchs who conducted the poll for Channel Ten News was done after the announcements by ministers Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked, who said this morning, that in spite of their previous threats and ultimatums to leave the government and bring about elections, that they will remain in the coalition. The poll revealed that the Likud Party remained below the threshold of 30 mandates, which they currently enjoy, but would still be the largest party in the Knesset ranking with 29 seats.

The second biggest party according to the poll would be the Yesh Atid party would place second with 17 seats, a significant jump from the 11 that it currently has.

The Zionist Union party would decline to 14 seats and be tied with the Joint Arab List which would go up from 13 to 14 seats.

In spite of the backtracking, the Jewish Home party would receive an extra seat from what it has currently and rank in at nine seats. The Yisrael Beiteinu, which recently left the government following the most recent round of fighting with Hamas in Gaza, got stronger and falls just below with eight seats, which is much more than it’s current five.

Meretz and the Orly Levi Abecassis’ party would receive seven seats apiece, while the Charedi parties would take a drastic downturn with United Torah Judaism ranking in at six seats and shas would drop to just four, barely passing the electoral threshold.

The Kulanu party would lose half of the seats it currently has, dropping from ten seats to five.

  1. 1. Polling is dubious, especially in Israel due to the nature of proportional representation and the vagaries of Israeli society.

    2. Israel polls usually trend left, underrepresenting religious and nationalists.

    3. The number suggest that even the worst case scenario that Natanyahu faces, he would still end up as Prime Minister leading a Right-Center-Religious coalition.
