Jerusalem police report the arrest of a 16-year-old youth who allegedly set a number of carriages on fire on Shabbos, causing a fire near the entrance to a building in the Beis Yisrael neighborhood of the capital.
Police were called to the building on Shabbos morning after there were fires at the entrance to the building as well as the home of one of the residents. The residents were evacuated, and the fire departments summoned and B’chasdei Hashem, the fires were extinguished without injuries.
The suspect was taken into custody while still in the area. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday morning. The motive for the fires was not given by police.
