Rabbi Erez Bar-On, a graduate of Har Bracha Hesder Yeshiva, was praised by senior IDF commanders in the Yosh (Yehuda & Shomron) Division command for his appropriate and quick response.
The incident refers to an attempted stabbing attack between Eli and Shilo on Monday, when an Arab attacker armed with two knives tried stabbing people at a hitchhiking post. The attacker, who was a student in Birzeit University, approached two people at the hitchhiking area, speaking to them in English. During the discussion he pulled the knife.
It was first reported that a soldier eliminated the terrorist, but additional investigation revealed the intended victim was a civilian, Rav Bar-On, who drew his handgun and shot the attacker dead.
Rabbi Bar-On is a high school principal in the Shomron community of Itamar.

Can we dare say that the power of Torah saved him! What a kiddush Hashem!
Bir Zeit, that great bastion of democracy. If he was recruited at Bir Zeit it should be put on the list of military targets right under Hamas headquarters and dealt with accordingly. Ben Gurion would never stand for Arab insurrection and he was left winger. Today’s Israeli politician stand to left of the people against whom Ben Gurion fought the war of independence.
Jews must know how to defend themselves.
