Voting on election day in Israel has become a very important value for the Charedi community. This year is no different, with many Rabbonim telling their followers that people need to stay in Israel for the upcoming mayoral elections in Jerusalem, as well as other cities.
Hagaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky instructed one person who asked whether he could leave the country and miss the elections. HaRav Kanievsky replied in the negative and said that people should not travel outside of Eretz Yisroel if it will present them from voting.
The question was posed by a Rosh Kollel who asked if he could go away for a business trip, as the ticket was planned well in advance. Hagaon HaRav Kanievsky told the man to stay in Eretz Yisroel and go out and vote.
