Israel: Sign the Petition Against New Postal Package Surcharge

The Israel Postal Service is now charging NIS 35 on packages delivered from abroad that are not subject to duty (customs).

Therefore if you order a book from Amazon or if a family member abroad sends a care package, you are compelled to pay NIS 35 to release it from the post office.

An online petition has been started permitting people opposing the new charge to express their disapproval. To sign, visit http://www.atzuma.co.il/petition/amazoni11/1/0/1/

  1. What is up with that? The 50% income taxes you pay is not enough to have the post office deliver mail to you from abroad without fleecing you of more money? Maybe packages that Israelis send abroad should be half-price since the Israeli postal service doesn’t have the expense of handling its delivery.
