It was a difficult night for security forces who were protecting mispallalim visiting Kever Yosef in PA (Palestinian Authority) occupied Shechem on Wednesday morning, during the predawn hours of 29 Marcheshvan. The group of about 1000 came under attack with rocks and bottles.
Police and soldiers were attacked as well as mispallalim, and two homemade hand grenades were detected near the entrance to the tziyun. B’chasdei Hashem, no one was injured from he grenades.
Firebombs were hurled at military vehicles. Security forces responded with non-lethal riot-control means. No injuries were reported.
According to the Oslo Accords, by which the holy cite of Shechem was given over to the PA control by Israel, PA security forces are obligated to permit Jewish worshipers free and regular access to holy sites, including Kever Yosef. Israel, for reasons unknown to the public at large, makes no issue over this.
The same is true at Kever Rochel, and regarding Yericho, and the ancient Shalom Al Yisrael Shul there, which the Palestinians burned down as they have Kever Yosef numerous times, there is no access at all.
