Beit Shemesh Loss Causes In-Fighting in Charedi Camps in the City

The results of the Beit Shemesh elections have begun having ripple effects throughout the city’s political hieracrhy. Following the victory of the Modern Orthodox candidate Aliza Bloch, the Degel HaTorah faction decided to blame the results on the Shlomei Emunim group and have claimed that the later, is on its way to making a coalition with Bloch to help create a majority in the City Council.

A representative of Degel Hatorah in Beit Shemesh, Moshe Montag, sent a recording to his followers that said: “I want to tell you my friends, that it bring me great sorrow to state that the Shlomei Emunim faction betrayed us during this election campaign. That has been checked out and verified. The signs all point to the possibility that they are now fully embracing their betrayal of us and others as they are going to enter into a coalition with Bloch. The only thing important to them is that they save their own skins.”

A spokesperson for the Shlomei Emunim faction responded to Montag’s comments and said: “When Abutbul was reeling when his own party was disqualified from running for council, Montag was only interested in the inheritance and thus cost his friend the election for who was going to become the next Mayor. Additionally, the Nasi of the Shas Moetzes Chachmei HaTorah, Hagaon HaRav Sholom Cohen, instructed all parties to enter into a dialogue with Bloch.”

  1. Why don’t they just face up to the fact that they have ALL simply FAILED and that they no longer have the trust of their constituents!
Instead of blaming others they should sit down and make a BIG heshbon hanefesh!

  2. Wait I’m confused, two days ago Rav Sholom Cohen said that all those who voted for Bloch will have terrible consequences in geheinam & now he’s saying to all the politicians: Work with Bloch? What a hypocritical. Maybe HE should be doing a cheshbon hanefesh before opening his mouth and attacking other yidden.

  3. I thought Israel is a democracy. You can vote for whoever you want and if one party wants to make a coalition with another that’s also fine. Hashem anyway decides who wins. The ikur is there should be sholom. If there is Sholom and achdus Moshiach will come and we won’t have to deal with stupid election and politics.
