Two men in their 30’s were pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene after a car exploded at the intersection of Lechi and Etzel Streets in the Hatikva neighborhood of Tel Aviv.
Currently, it is unclear what caused the explosion but a police spokesperson has stated that a full investigation has been opened regarding the incident and that the incident was criminally motivated. A second vehicle parked nearby sustained damage from the blast.
Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah first responders arrived at the scene to assist the injured but there was not much to do for the two men. United Hatzalah reported that their EMS first response volunteers treated a number of people for light injuries and shock.
Chief Paramedic of United Hatzalah Avi Marcus, who was one of the first responders at the scene reported: “When we arrived at the scene we found two people who were suffering from multi-system trauma and there was nothing left to do for them except to pronounce their deaths. In addition, our volunteers treated numerous people for light injuries and shock at the scene.”
