Following some significant victories in the municipal elections in Israel, Degel Hatorah MK Yaakov Asher addressed some of the party activists, who worked hard towards persuading voters to back Degel. While there was machlokes between Degel and other chareidim during the election process, Asher told hundreds of young activists, bochrim from yeshivos and avreichim, that there was significant Siyata Dishmaya in Haifa in particular, as they succeeded in unseating veteran mayor, Yona Yahav, who during this outgoing term was viciously opposed to working with the party and failed to honor coalition agreements. HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita predicted the “Rasha” was going to lose the race.
Asher thanks the thousands of avreichim who adhered to the word of Gedolei Torah Shlita, voting for Degel as instructed. “We don’t have a fight with anyone” he exclaimed, “We do not seek machlokes with anyone. We wish to work shoulder to shoulder together for the good of the entire tzibur” he added.
It appears that MK Asher was focusing on the Haifa election when thinking of his comments, for Degel was involved in vociferous disputes with Agudas Yisrael in a number of venues, including Yerushalayim, Elad, Beit Shemesh, and even Haifa too.
In another election-related matter, it may be until Thursday until the votes of IDF soldiers are tabulated and only then will an official announcement be made regarding the Beit Shemesh mayoral race.

AGAIN with the anti litvish commentary! Who is the “Israel desk”? Some Gerrer? You know full well that Asher meant that is wasnt a personal fight and Degel only wanted to run separately to demonstrate It’s strength so they wouldn’t continue being treated as a lesser than equal partner in Gimmel, and that now Degel is ready to work together for the good of all.
“Israel Desk” can’t seem to get over the stupendous win Degel had in comparison to Agudah.
