VIDEO/PHOTOS: Monday Morning Meah Shearim Fire On Lapidot Street – Girl’s School Evacuated

A fire was reported on Monday on Lapidot Street in Meah Shearim. Heavy black smoke emanated from the burning structure, and with the assistance of police, firefighters evacuated the neighboring girl’s school. A number of LP gas tanks which were on fire were extricated from the fire before they exploded B”H.

Fire department officials report firemen placed themselves in significant danger to pull the tanks out of the flames, well-aware of what would occur if they blew up.

Fire officer, Reshef Oren Avrahami explains the response was quick, and upon arrival, the first units saw acrid smoke bellowing from “the temporary structure that was built atop of a roof”. They searched to determine no one was trapped inside, and simultaneously, evacuated the neighboring girl’s school.

The fire is under investigation. B’chasdei Hashem, there were no fatalities or injuries.
