Colonel Hasson Hasson, 45, a member of Israel’s Druse community, has been appointed as the new presidential military secretary. The appointment was agreed upon by both IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi and President Shimon Peres.
Hasson, married and the father of four, holds a bachelors degree in law and a masters in political science. He is also a graduate of the army’s National Security College.
He enlisted in the military in 1981, as a combatant in the Golani Brigade and has served in military intelligence and oversaw special counter-terror operations in Yehuda and Shomron during the Second Intifada, during the years 2001-2004.
