A fire broke out during the early morning hours on Monday, 13 Marcheshvan, in the Shuk HaCarmel area of Tel Aviv, claiming the life of a 62-year-old woman. The woman was pulled from the burning apartment in critical condition and was pronounced dead a short time later following failed resuscitation efforts.
MDA reports the call for the fire came in at 6:01AM. Units were dispatched to Shemtov Street in Tel Aviv, in the Shuk HaCarmel area.
Magen David Adom EMT Moti Arush told the media, “When I arrived, we saw heavy smoke coming from the one-story structure, which was engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and at the first possible opportunity, entered the building to check for persons trapped inside. A 62-year-old woman was pulled from the building in cardiac arrest and burns. We tried to resuscitate her, and advanced life support was begun but because of her critical state, she was pronounced dead soon thereafter”.
Police report detaining a 58-year-old man in connection with the fire.
