Thursday Afternoon Protest at IDF Jerusalem Draft Center

“We must not remain indifferent” reads the latest kol korei, calling for a mass protest by chareidim on Jerusalem’s Rashi Street, in front of the IDF induction center today, Thursday, 9 Marcheshvan, at 2:00PM.

The poster sites that the tzibur is continuing with business as usual, while there are some who receive a salary and they sit and contemplate, arriving at formulas as to just how many bnei Torah will be inducted into the military!

This is clearly another protest by the Peleg Yerushalmi and Eida Chareidis against induction into the military, as well as against chareidi lawmakers in Knesset, who are continuing to serve as the nation prepares a new draft law, “which will result in thousands of bnei Torah serving in the military R”L” as they put it.

  1. Let’s not join the ranks of those who have taken the pen which writes history in ink and precede to rewrite that which has been written with blood, sweat, and tears (i.e. ameilus ba’Torah). All Gedolei Torah – talmidim of whom may be found in each of the “chareidi” parties – strongly held that one may not join the IDF and that learning Torah, and living a full Torah life (i.e. Shabbos, kashrus, and all inyonei kedushah and taharah) is chok v’lo yaavor. The ONLY machlokes amongst our einei ha’eidah, which only appeared in the last decade or so, was how do respond/react to the newest attempts by the government to “help all its citizens become part of Israeli society.” Join the Nachal Chareidi – those who may be found in the most elite groups and are consistently amongst the most highly decorated soldiers of the IDF – simply register as always and apply for a dichui or pitur, or not even register (and even protest the draft, were and are the options. But none of our leaders, regardless with which Moetzes they were affiliated, believe, or believe, the IDF is where we belong or that the government had/has anything other than bad intentions.

  2. Why do you mention Eda Chareidis? I can’t see their signature on the poster.
It’s just a bunch thugs who can’t take if things are quiet.

  3. YWN, you clearly didn’t read the paper and are completely unaware of what this protest was about.

    The fukk story:
On Sunday, a Chareidi girl came out of the Lishkat Hagiyus traumatized.
Female volunteers from the organization ‘Chomotayich’, which provides legal assistance to Chareidi girls facing difficulties obtaining an exemption.
As it turns out, officers ordered her to undergo a “medical examination” in exchange for her exemption.
Now just to let you know, according to Israeli law, all you need to do to qualify for an exemption is to sign an affidavit stating under oath that the undersigned doesn’t drive on Shabbos, and keeps kosher.

No mention of a medical examination.

During this “examination”, the girl was ordered to undress…and out of fear she complied.

In the end, the military officials told her that since she’s only 16, she doesn’t qualify for an exemption yet.

This protest was called in response to a Chareidi girl being sexually abused by military officers, and you have the gal to post this phony article, that drips with sarcasm, :as if they have nothing better to do…’

    For shame…

    Imagine this was your daughter/sister???
    How would you react?
