Eretz Yisroel’s Imminent Water Crisis

kinerret1.jpgProf. Uri Shani, who heads Israel’s Water Authority, has issued yet another warning that a water crisis is imminent, stating that sometime in June or July of this coming summer we may actually have to stop pumping from Lake Kinneret, the nation’s primary potable water source.

Shani stated that delays in salination plants and other measures that were not implemented will leave us high and dry, perhaps required to import water from other countries.

We are now less than a meter (39 inches) from the absolute red line of the Kinneret. Pumping after reaching that point could lead to the water becoming salinated and thereby, contaminating the Kinneret for future use.
