On Wednesday morning, 1 Marcheshvan 5779, authorities arrested seven senior employees of the Israel Lands Administration for questioning on suspicion of a number of crimes including bribery, breach of trust, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
According to the suspicions, the senior officials acted ostensibly in the framework of their duties and received bribes in return for illegally providing information in order to promote illegal use of that information by others.
Searches of the homes and offices of the suspects were carried out at the time of their arrests. The suspects were brought for questioning by the police, and in the afternoon, they were taken to the Rishon L’Tzion Magistrate’s Court to be arraigned.
The Israel Police said, “In the course of the organized battle of the Israel Police against offenses of integrity and public corruption, and in the light of evidence that raised suspicions of additional offenses, the National Unit for Combating Economic Crime at Lahav 443 opened an investigation which led to the raid and arrests following the covert activities.”
