Education Minister Bennett Asked To Explain Why Most Chareidi Schools Don’t Fly Israeli Flag

MK (Yisrael Beitenu) Oded Forer has summoned Education Minister (Bayit Yehudi) Naftali Bennet to a special Knesset discussion during which he will be asked to explain why most chareidi schools are not flying the national flag as required by law.

According to Forer, 88% in the Arab and chareidi sectors do not fly the flag, as opposed to 30% in the general population.

According to a Chadashot News report, Bennett’s invitation to the committee is based on a report that examined a survey of municipalities, educational institutions and institutions of higher education, where the Israeli flag is raised and where not.

Forer, who initiated the discussion in the Education Committee, told Chadashot News, “It is unthinkable that educational institutions funded by the Israeli government will laugh at the law and laugh at the flag. The blatant violation of the Flag Law in a number of cities in Israel cannot be tolerated, especially in light of the fact that we are warning about this time and again, and the education minister continues to ignore it”.

MK Forer turned to the chairman of the Education Committee and asked the minister to report how he intends to act in the face of inconceivable numbers of schools and colleges that “laugh at the law and the flag of Israel.”

“The education minister must go and visit schools and make sure that the talk about our national values and symbols will not remain merely a post on Facebook, but the laws that are being enforced and implemented,” Forer told Chadashot.

Bennett’s invitation to the committee, of course, is not pure in nature, and is intended to embarrass him, as part of the recent war between him and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who heads the Yisrael Beitenu party.

  1. It’s all about elections. What are they going to do? Force the arab schools and the radical lefty universities
to fly the flag? They’ll take it to the Israeli supreme court and we all know how they will rule on the case.

  2. I THOUGHT ISRAEL WAS A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY. IF A SCHOOL DOESN’T WANT TO FLY THE FLAG, FOR WHAT EVER REASON, AREN’T THEY FREE TO DO SO. SINCE WHEN DID ISRAEL BECOME LIKE COMMUNIST RUSSIA
