HaGaon HaRav Yehuda Silman Shlita, on Wednesday evening the eve of 25 Tishrei, lashed out against the Peleg Yerushalmi faction and its political party, Eitz (עץ) after they decided to run their own list in the upcoming municipality elections in Bnei Brak.

The rav, along with other rabbonim, was taking part in the opening of the Degel Hatorah campaign headquarters in Bnei Brak, using the opportunity to speak out against the split off faction harshly for running an independent list for city council.

Rav Silman added, “A number of years ago, they declared war against Gedolei Torah and the discipline to adhere to the words of Gedolei Torah, and they built a separate platform for themselves and it huts us that among them are G-d fearing people and lomdei Torah, but they use every election campaign to try and demonstrate their power.

“Our wish is for peace, but the peace will arrive only if they understand that the vast majority of the world of Torah walks in the path of our Rabbonim. All those pained from the disgraceful and bitter violation of honor for the rabbonim, headed by Rav Gershon, Rav Chaim and Gedolei Yisrael and we must know that apathy is the danger towards strengthening this trend”.

Rav Silman added: “Anyone who prepares to vote ‘Gimmel’ in the elections and for mayor, and who sits with us and thinks that if he and his family vote it this is sufficient is obligated to know that it is not enough. It is incumbent on everyone to work with each mispallel in shul, every tenant in one’s building, and among avreichim who learn Torah, the importance of the matter and if one’s thoughts are confused, we must assist him to stop becoming involved in the wrong system and illuminate his way of Torah”.
