An 11-year-old boy was found dead in his home in Nahariya on Tuesday, the day after the Simchas Torah holiday ended in Israel. As is customary with Isru Chag, schools starting from kindergarten were closed and many children were still at home.

The boy was found in the afternoon hours on Tuesday, not breathing and without a pulse. Emergency Medical Services from United Hatzalah peformed CPR on the boy in an attempt to save his life. The Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance that arrived joined the efforts, but unfortunately, Paramedics at the scene were forced to pronounce the boy’s death.

Social workers from the city as well as members of United Hatzalah’s Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit arrived to help the family process the situation and deal with the grief from the incident. Police have opened an investigation into the cause of death, but at this time it has not been made public what the cause was.
