A powerful explosion was heard in the Shomron community of Beit El on erev Shabbos, in the Nof neighborhood near the community’s border fence, the result of an bomb thrown by terrorists into the community, which is close to the PA (Palestine Authority) city of Ramallah and the village of Sinjel. B’chasdei Hashem there were no fatalities, injuries or damage.
However, angry residents circulated flyers explaining “we will not sit back and wait for a disaster”. They explain the throwing of explosive devices into the community is an occurrence that takes place all too often, and it is an intolerable situation, blaming the community’s security personnel. They protested on erev Shabbos, blaming the community council’s security officer, Yehuda Dana.
The person who was on duty at the time of the attack was suspended from his post, as residents are questioning with concern as to how they will be able to fulfil the mitzva of sukka with terrorists hurling bombs over the fence.
Candidate for the community council, Yael Ben-Yashar, said in response to the fence attack: “The families living near the wall require a solution, and I call on the army to immediately close the road to Palestinian travel in response to every stone that flies towards us for at least three days. Every time there is an escalation in the events, the army handles that specific incident [only]. We are demanding a firm response. The immediate closing of the road.”
