CityPass Prepared For Tishrei Yomim Tovim With Increased Service


CityPass, the operator of the Jerusalem light rail, announces it is ready for the upcoming Tishrei Yomim Tovim, which will bring a significant increase in passengers on the light rail system. During this season, the frequency of the trains will be adjusted, personnel positions will be set up, the service staff will be reinforced, and sukkas will be set in place at central stations of the light rail.

On Monday, 8 Tishrei 5779, ahead of Yom Kippur, the frequency of service will be increased beginning at 8:00PM. In addition, train service will continue until 2:00AM to accommodate persons going to and coming from the Kosel. On 9 Tishrei, erev Yom Kippur, the last train will head out at 2:00PM. Light rail service will resume on motzei Yom Kippur at 9:00PM.

During Chol Hamoed Sukkos, CityPass service and supervision system will assist the passengers and visitors even more than usual, and the light rail personnel will be placed next to the ticketing machines at the main stations in order to assist the traveling public and visitors in the purchase process.

In addition, during chol hamoed, on Tuesday, on 16-18 Tishrei, CityPass, in conjunction with the Ministry of Transportation, will set up sales stations at Ammunition Hill, City Hall and the central bus station, where tickets can be purchased for one way, roundtrip, with payment in cash or by credit card.

As in past years, comfortable sukkas will be set up by CityPass at central stations to accommodate the many visitors to the capital traveling on the light rail. During Sukkos, trains will run more frequently, not more than six-minute intervals between the hours of 9:00AM and 8:00PM.

  1. More importantly, will there be a lot better bus service to the Kotel? Instead of the infrequent, and no-show buses leading to terrible overcrowding?
