Hamas official in Gaza, Said Siam, has released accusatory statements against Egypt for allegedly torturing Hamas prisoners taken into custody during the free-for-all along the Rafiah border between southern Gaza and Sinai.
According to Said Siam, a former minister in the Gaza Hamas-led regime, Egyptians are ignoring their responsibility along the border with Gaza, ignoring criminal activities, preferring to concentrate on hunting down Hamas activists.
Siam added the Egyptian seem particularly interested in activities inside Hamas-controlled Gaza, including the movements of senior officials such as Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah. He added that many Fatah aligned criminals continue to operate at the border under the noses of Egyptian forces, who do not seem interested.
