Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Monday, 23 Elul, visited the Foreign Ministry in his capacity as Foreign Minister, addressing the staff ahead of Rosh Hashanah and participating in the annual pre-Rosh Hashanah l’chaim.
In his remarks, he once again addressed the Iranian threat to Israel, the region and free world. He stated, “The agreement with Iran was a bad agreement in every respect except for one – it brought us closer to the Arab world on a scale that we never knew, and one of our goals is that it continues. I think that another important thing is, of course, the fact that there is a gradual normalization with leading countries in the Arab world.
“We are in a process of diplomatic flourishing. We are also in a struggle for justice and the truth and I think that we are in a process of gradual normalization which in the end heralds a genuine opening for peace.”
Israeli defense and intelligence establishment leaders continue to announce Iran’s movements in Syria are being carefully monitored, as Israel will not permit Iran to establish a strong military presence on Israel’s border.
In fact, just this week, Israel’s former National Security Advisor, Yaakov Amidror, who also headed the Research Department in IDF Intelligence, called for a preemptive Israeli strike against Syria, warning “The blow that the Sunnis sustained this time was very sever, and now Shiite militias are entering the country and changing the balance of demographic forces. The Syrian army will be rebuilt now, and it will be more Shiite.” He feels that not attacking now will result in a far more serious scenario for Israel down the road.
