MK Struk: IDF & Israel Police Failures Must be Addressed

MK (Bayit HaYehudi) Orit Struk told Channel 2 News that the vandalism in which vineyards were uprooted by Arabs in Eish Kodesh, Achiya and other agricultural communities is unacceptable. Struk explains the Arabs are too aware of the fact that Defense Minister Ehud Barak has tied the hands of the residents of these communities as he has tied hands of motorists traveling throughout Yehuda and Shomron.

Struk, who heads the Yehuda and Shomron Civil Rights Organization seeks to understand why if a motorist is attacked with a potentially fatal weapon, a rock hurled as a moving vehicle, why the intended victim is expected to continue without responding, insisting the driver should be permitted to fire at the attacker, who clearly wishes to kill the occupants of the vehicle.

Struck adds that prior to the last attack in Eish Kodesh, the residents received warnings that the local Arabs planned to uproot their vineyards two days before the attack occurred and they posted this on the community’s Facebook page. Nevertheless, police and the IDF failed to act and when summoned, their response was quite delayed she explains. She feels the failure of these agencies to address warnings such as in this particular case is unacceptable and this too must be addressed.

Struk wants to understand by the so-called Dromi Law passed by Knesset, which clearly permits a citizen to use appropriate force to protect his property, does not seem to provide a cloak of protection for residents of townships throughout Yehuda and Shomron. She blames Defense Minister Ehud Barak for “tying the hands of residents of those areas”.
