Prosecution Files Charges In Stabbing Incident Involving Two Yeshiva Bochrim In Modi’in Illit

A prosecutor’s statement was filed on Sunday, 22 Elul, against the talmid who stabbed another talmid yeshiva in Modi’in Illit’s Yeshivas Knesset HaGedolah following a heated argument.

The suspect is a minor, 17, and he faces charges of attempted murder. During the hearing on Sunday, his remand was extended by the Jerusalem Magistrate Court until Tuesday, 24 Elul, at which time another hearing will take place.

The Rosh Yeshiva, HaGaon Rav Yitzchak Ze’ev Zacks has since spoken out, explaining while we are not responsible, a cheshbon nefesh is in order and he declared a day of fasting last week.

Meanwhile, sources tell YWN that the attacker has psychiatric issues.

  1. psychiatric issues are not an excuse for this type of behavior, there are plenty of fine upstanding, gentle souls who would never do something like this and also have mental health issues.

  2. The Bachur has schizophrenia. And there was no argument at all – he took a knife, walked up to another Bachur, and stabbed him.
