Magen David Adom on Sunday morning, 22 Elul, responded to a fire during the predawn hours in the commercial building under renovation on Yehuda Marguza Street in Jaffa. EMTs and paramedics, who responded at about 3:30AM, were on the scene and still standing by during the morning hours.

Part of the structure collapsed, and EMS personnel remained on the scene to provide an immediate response if required. MDA officials report that two bodies were removed from the building; a 65-year-old male and a 27-year-old woman. In addition, three persons were injured, including a 30-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman in light condition from smoke inhalation.

Police and fire inspectors were still operating on the scene at noon, reporting the cause of the fire is under investigation.
