(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)
While being a religious Jew is challenging for soldiers in the IDF, some soldiers remain undeterred and in the accompanying video, we see siyumei mesechtos, attesting to their determination to maintain their learning while serving.
Soldiers taking part have completed Moed Katan, Megillah, Taanis, Sotah, Makos, Kesubos and Seder Noshim in Mishnayos. We see and hear 150 soldiers taking part in the siyum together.

This is what chazal say “ nezem beaf chazir”
A ring on the nose of a pig.
It is a way the modern day maskilim I.e. mizrachi movement will try to pull Yeshiva bachurim into the army and tell them look we also learn Torah in the army.
Total disgrace to the Torah!!!!!!!!
Beautiful and heart warming. These soldiers are learning more than some of the nut jobs protesting against them.
How beautiful! They continue to learn in the face of so many challenges! Glad we make a special mi shabeirach for them in shul on Shabbos.
It’s great for the frum soldiers in the army who completed those masechtos. However, this cannot be used as an argument to draft yeshiva boys into the army. As if to say, “see, you can still learn Torah in the army!” After all, the IDF is NOT a yeshiva, and the students who are learning in the yeshivos need to continue learning undisturbed. For those frum ones who are not in a yeshiva and are serving in the army — yes, it’s wonderful that they are able to learn and finish masechtos.
Nice.
