There is a bit of drama in Agudas Yisrael’s Moetzas Gedolei Torah (of Eretz Yisroel), as the secretary, Rav Mordechai Stern, is being removed from his position. This appears to be the result of a harsh controversy involving Stern, resulting in the decision to place Rav Yaakov Waltzer in the post, who served in the position in the past. Stern, who is a dayan in the Vishnitz Chassidus, was appointed in the past five years.
It is reported that in the past months, as the occasional timely meetings addressed decisive issues – mainly dominated by the new IDF draft law – there has been machlokes between Stern and the admorim on the Moetzes. Rav Stern is accused of leaking information to chareidi ‘nais’ news phonelines without permission from the members of the council.
Kikar Shabbos News adds that Rav Waltzer is likely to be officially appointed in place of Stern before Rosh Hashanah.
Waltzer is known to be exceptionally close to the Vishnitzer-Merkaz Rebbe Shlita, and has served in the post in the past, so he is not a novice.

Who is the Vishnitzer-Merkaz Rebbe Shlita? It is reported that Rav Waltzer recently left / was thrown out (depending on whose version you believe) of the chassidus of the Vishnitzer Rebbe Rav Mendel Shlita, whose right hand man he had been since he became Rebbe. Has YWN been had here?
