The parents of children in Talmid Torah Emunas Tzion in Yerushalayim are angry with Mayor Nir Barkat as the school year is upon us and they do not have a building. They protested outside the Education Committee at City Hall, blaming the city for failing to see to their needs. When the parents cornered the mayor, demanding a meeting, he preferred to avoid entering into the matter, instructing them to go to City Hall with their grievances.
On Sunday, 260 students of Emunas Tzion were evacuated from the ORT building on HaNevi’im Street. According to the Tel Aviv District Court, Ort refused to extend the lease, in retaliation for the evacuation of the ORT building from the Ramot neighborhood.
The parents’ committee was furious with the municipal representatives and are quoted telling Kikar Shabbos News that “We are Sephardim and baalei teshuva and therefore we are ignored and would be treated differently if we were another community.”
