The crisis surrounding the draft law continues, now amid the knowledge that the Moetzas Gedolei Torah of Agudas Yisrael will not be convening until after the Tishrei Yomim Tovim.
In the interim, both Shas and Degel Hatorah are continuing efforts to reach a solution that will bring Agudas Yisrael onboard. According to latest reports, Degel Chairman MK Moshe Gafne is quite perturbed, explaining Agudas Yisrael’s Deputy Minister, Yaakov Litzman, in his meetings with the Gerrer Rebbe Shlita, failed to explain the good points of the draft legislation to the rebbe, which Gafne fears is the reason the admorim have come out so strongly against it.
Degel, and Shas, both feel the legislation is the best possible solution to a bad situation and pushing the bill aside will leave the fate of tens of thousands of lomdei Torah in the hands of the High Court of Justice, which they feel will, without a doubt, result in decision that is far less considerate of the plight of the talmidim and avreichim.
Criticism against Litzman from Gafne has reached the media, as the litvish chareidi faction is fuming over Litzman’s behavior during the ordeal, unwilling to discuss the draft bill, but preferring to announce deadlines and ultimatums that jeopardize the future of the coalition.

I dont understand why litzman is in the equation here and netanyahu is even giving him the time of day. Not only is he a failure in his real job ,he is a failure in politics. Litzman should resign his position before he makes a bigger fool og himself and the yiddin he claims to represent .
Takes 2 is hard to agree with,

the only people who make fools out of themselves are Gafne & Co. when they offer their appeasement policies to netanyahu (and the yidden of course).

Can you explain what exactly are the good points of this draft law? Did you even read it?
The law requires the Chareidi world to give up 13,000+ bochurim over the next 3 years to guarantee the rest of the Torah world deferments from military service.
And no, it wasn’t ‘always this way’. If you look at the statistics of Chareidi enlistment over the last few decades, you’ll see that until a few years ago, on an average year, around 300-500 Chareidim enlisted.
If you add population growth, let’s say that it’s at 500-700. That would get you 1,500-2,100, still a far cry from the 13,000 necessary according to this law.
The law stipulates clear terms. 3 consecutive years of non compliance with the quotas, and the law is revoked, putting the tens of thousands of bochurim in the same predicament that YWN speaks so emphatically about.
The Chareidi world has never reached the quotas once yet, but Gafne and friends are confident that they will make these quotas, which are significantly higher than the quotas in the current draft law.

why is everyone blaming the guy….. he is very trust worthy… there is no reason he should bluff to the rebbe he would be gaining nothing. my opinion is that they feel that this is the red line they dont want to cross. if netenyahu is pressured enough he could override the bagatz. he wouldnt do it cuz its very bad for his image. he will do it as a last resort
