The passing of the Nationality Law is still in the news, and the anger of the Druse community still occupies Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. As reported by YWN-Israel, the matter is being given high priority by PM Netanyahu, who is working to mend fences, and towards achieving this goal, a high-level committee headed by the Prime Minister has been established, a committee that includes leaders of Israel Druse community. The committee has met once, and Mr. Netanyahu continues to explain the law, showing it is not intended to belittle the Druse community in any way.
As his efforts continue, a second meeting of the Ministerial Committee on Druse, Circassian and Minority Community Members who serve in the Security Forces Affairs has been held.
Among the issues discussed were the existing impediments to the implementation of Cabinet decision #959 regarding the “2016-19 Development Plan for Strengthening the Druse and Circassian Towns and Villages.”
Mr. Netanyahu instructed Prime Minister’s Office Director-General Eli Goner to meet with Druse and Circassian local council heads and with the directors-general of the relevant ministries and submit to the committee feasible steps to remove the impediments especially regarding housing and employment.
