Speaking to Israel’s Meet the Press program, Machane Tzioni opposition party leader Avi Gabbai calls for the resignation of both Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman for their handling of the latest round of Gaza-based warfare, in which close to 200 rockets were fired into southern Israel.
Gabbai joins the voice of so many Israelis, who felt the IDF should have been given the green light to enter Gaza and ‘clean house’ following the latest round of Hamas rocket fire into Israel, which by and large was met with the bombing of many empty buildings in Gaza, but without targeted the leadership of the Hamas regime as well as the various terrorist factions based in Gaza.
In relation to the situation in Gaza, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu issued the following statement in his comments to the media at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, 1 Elul.
“We are in the midst of a campaign against terror in Gaza. It entails an exchange of blows; it will not end in one strike. Our demand is clear – a complete ceasefire. We will not suffice with less than this. As of now, we have destroyed hundreds of Hamas military targets, and in each round the IDF exacts an additional heavy price. I will not reveal here our operational plans, they are ready. Our objective is to restore the quiet to residents of the south and the area adjacent to the Gaza Strip; this goal will be achieved in full.”

It’s always interesting to listen to the brilliantb ideas of the “opposition”. Once they’re a part of the government, they’re just as slow to take real action as the rest of them. Obviously it’s easier said than done.
