Air pollution levels around Israel are reportedly high today, Monday, the result of eastern winds that are carrying sand and other pollutants.
Health officials early Monday morning issued a warning for the elderly as well as cardiac and pulmonary patients, especially those people with chronic pulmonary difficulties. They were advised to remain indoors and to avoid physical exertion if required to venture out.
Particularly difficult conditions have been reported in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Beersheba, Beit Shemesh, and the Sharon area (Greater Tel Aviv).
Ministry officials reported earlier that pollution levels in northern and central areas averaged about ten times the regular pollution levels.
