Main Givat Shaul Street Closed for a Long Period as a Distraught Individual Threatened Suicide


Many were puzzled and compelled to find another route as police on Wednesday morning, 27 Menachem Av, shut down Dfus Street, a major street in Givat Shaul, Yerushalayim, the street used by so many to travel to both Har Nof and Kiryat Moshe. The street for those unfamiliar runs parallel to Kanfei Nesharim Street, the area’s main thoroughfare.

After a prolonged shut down of a large area of the street, police report they were dealing with a mentally distraught individual who stood on a 16th story ledge, threatening to jump off.

Negotiations began to talk the man down, and B’chasdei Hashem, the man was removed from the ledge safely, bringing the incident to an end close to 2:30PM.
