Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein on Wednesday, 27 Menachem Av, refused to sign off on a resignation letter submitted to him as he is required to do, because the letter was written in Arabic, and not Hebrew.
Arab List MK Wael Younis, delivered his letter of resignation to Edelstein, who when he saw it was written in Arabic, declined to accept it, instructing Younis to resubmit it in Hebrew.
Without Edelstein’s signature, the resignation does not go into effect. A second letter, in Hebrew, was submitted, as seen in the accompanying photo.

Dumb and dumber. Why is the speaker giving ammunition to the BDSers? Arabic is the language of a fifth of the Israeli population, and until just now it was an official language.
This MK is making the point that Arabic is now disadvantaged and discriminated against by the government. Just what we need to be publicized on the international media, who are already making a watchword out of the term “apartheid.”
LET HIM WRITE IN CHINESE AS LONG AS HE GETS OUT
