NEW TACTIC! Police Use Portable Foul-Smelling ‘Crowd Dispersment Device’ on Peleg Protesters [WATCH VIDEO]

At many Peleg protests, the Israeli police bring in truck carrying water canons to help disperse the crowds. The blue-dyed water is foul-smelling, often referred to as ‘skunk spray’, which leaves the protesters soaked and smelly.

Monday’s protest in Bnei Brak was no different and water canons were brought in. But this time, portable water canons were used as well. Police officers wearing protective suits and face masks had the water-spraying devices strapped to their backs, and sprayed the protesters close-up.

The protests eventually ended, after around 12 Peleg protesters were arrested.

  1. It doesn’t seem these guys really care how they smell since there is not much movement even after being sprayed. The police need to use more physical painful pepper sprays and tear gas along with water cannons that spray a liquid dye that will be impossible to wash out of clothes and hats. At some point, just physically drag them off and throw them into jail and let them rot for a few days in their rancid and fetid clothing

  2. the spraying seems not to have any effect on these guys and BTW people should know that Peleg is very wealthy and helps these boys financially.

One of my grandsons was thrown in jail for avoiding going to the IDF office, Peleg got him out of jail, brought him home and sent delicious food to the house for him and the large family too.

I think peleg is BAD but the water does NO GOOD! and is a waste of time and money. They should be put in the IDF and not let out!

  3. It’s really impressive. There have been numerous Peleg protests now for many many months and these Bnei Torah are always so passive when being handled agressively. Contrast that to the policemen who lose themselves with the slightest insignificant provocation. One group learns Torah and mussar…the other doesn’t. Before calling them extremists again maybe just maybe they’re making a good point? Maybe they know that slowly coercing the Chareidim to go to the army is a HUGE spiritual sakanah.

  4. Dagolhaborah; +1 as one of your most vile posts. You apparently have a kinship with those police as you also spew vile smelling substances, words in your case. Your hatred of anyone standing up for ruchniyus is readily apparent and known to all YWN readers. Not that I necessarily approve of what the protesters are doing but your anger and hatred spew forth loud and “murky”!

  5. GodolHadora +1, would you say the same about the disabled who protested yesterday? Or the Ethiopians? No, because its your blatant hatred of Torah thats talking here. Your statement above is a disgusting, vile refection of the hatred to lomdei Torah that you and anyone else who has no connection to Torah learning spews forth. No, I am absolutely against protesting this way its a disgrace to Bnei Yeshiva and has a negative effect. But your call to let them rot in their rencid and fetid clothing is shameful even for a Jew like you.

  6. YWN are such antisemites they are happy that our Jewish brothers are going through such pain. Because of this sinas chinum we are still in golus.
You should be renamed IDF MOUTH PEICE shame on you self hating Jews I’m so sick of you.

  7. This is so ridiculous, pontificating from America, knowing nothing about the metzius of EY and what is at stake here, and having no real understanding of medinas yisrael and the evils these kids are willing to stand up against. Some of these comments are disgusting.

  8. Agree with you Uncle Ben.I notice they don’t use the skunk stuff or water cannons against the disabled protests ,dati leumi settlement evacuation protests or even against the Arabs , sorry but this is pure discrimination and targeting of charedim.

  9. Some commenters are still calling for Cantonist-style use of the IDF to “punish” Chareidim. Why do you even think the IDF wants these guys? It’s time for everyone to grow up and realize that no one can be forced to be a soldier against his will. It will undermine discipline and cohesion in the unit, which could endanger other soldiers’ lives on the battlefield. It’s a simple truth that not everyone is suitable for military service. The dangerous and infantile notion of forcing guys into the army is not even being considered by the IDF. All the noise is from the politicians and the esteemed judges of the Israeli supreme court. At no time in history was EVERYONE conscripted, not among the Shivtei Yisroel, and le’havdil, not among the nations of the world. Find some other way to let out your frustrations without suggesting idiotic and impossible proposals.

  10. “BTW people should know that Peleg is very wealthy and helps these boys financially.”
where does the $ trail lead

  11. NotSoFast – the water canons are generally not used during legal protests. This is usually used when things get out of control, or when people break the rules during the protest, such as extending onto areas where there aren’t permits, or physical violence.

I don’t know that every use case was or wasn’t warranted, but I know that these tactics aren’t used at random or in wholesale fashion.

  12. @UncleBen +1000

GH- Your distaste for your fellow jews is appalling. You don’t need to like them, you don’t need to believe in their belief system/hashkafos, but you don’t need to fill your post with scorn and mockery of another jew. Those jews in their fetid and rancid clothing would be the first to offer a helping hand, would you be stuck somewhere in Jerusalem and in need of assistance. Your behavior is disgusting, and casting them repeatedly in other posts as the cause our continued golus strikes me as nothing less than totally ironic.

  13. These vile chilul hashemnicks now smell on the outside as they do on the inside.
Their stench is a reflection of self made spiritual rot that has festered within them and their “gedolim” their whole lives.

  14. An interesting juxtaposition between this article and the non-sense in Portland. In America, even talking about getting rid of protestors is called racist by leftist “comedians”.

  15. Gadolhadorah – don’t worry about the attacks on you. Those who stand up for truth and honesty are often attacked. The Police really should start dealing with these illegal protesters firmly as you suggest. I was in Jerusalem last week and delayed for hours by these hooligans. To all those who say we should not relate to fellow Jews this way, go tell that to the Peleg Rabbonim and ask what heter there is to steal my time?

  16. Fake Charedi; You’re another apikorus in the mold of KatanHadorah as you cavalielry mock Gedolei Yisroel. Go learn the mishna in Sanhedrin about hamevazeh talmid chochom. They don’t need you puny minded approval.

  17. “Chareidi amiti”,

I suggest you be very careful how you refer to gedolei hatorah. I don’t either understand the protesting methods but I also live 5000 miles away and have no true understanding of the issues at hand. I suspect you don’t either.
Regardless- it is highly unwise of you to refer to gedolim in the manner with which you do. It will come back to hurt you in a big way.

  18. Interesting how so many of the commentators above now defend Peleg protestors, when they are clearly going against the mainstream views of Chareidi Gedolim in Israel. In fact, the founder of this splinter group was called a “Zaken Mamrei” by Rav Chaim Kanievsky, and the tactics being used were widely condemned as creating a huge Chilul Hashem when first used. What has changed now to make these protests acceptable?

As to comparing these protests to those by the handicapped – I support using minimal force to prevent disruption with both of them, at least at the start. If necessary to escalate, though, I support escalating the level of force in both cases, but only to the extent necessary to restore public order. I’d hope water cannons, etc. would not be necessary in either case, but if it was necessary for the handicapped protests, I’d support using it then as well.

  19. I learned in Yerushalayim for a few years and we were told not to attend haganas.
The Gedolem do not support this at all, on any level. It is detrimental to the bochrim themselves as it elicits poor middos. All the Roshai Yeshivos are completely opposed to peleg. Following one Rosh Yeshiva from Eretz Yisroel and perhaps 3 from the states against all other Rabbonim (including Rav Shteinman and yblct”a Rav Chaim) is wrong.

  20. I wonder what the reaction would be if we would experience this street closure here.
Imagine this happening on Coney Island, Route 9 or Route 306. Would some of you be so tolerant and understanding then as well?

  21. To all of you attacking chareidi amiti: If these rabbonim (that support this meshigas) are really true gedolei hatorah, they would know that when steal someone’s time, you can never pay it back. For this reason alone, they no longer deserve any respect. One of the first things we learn is “Derech Eretz Kadma LeTorah”, If they can’t respect others’ time, they they dont deserve respect either.

  22. Spray is not strong enough. Should be more powerful and smell like a skunk.

How dare these boychickles prevent people from going to work, going to the hospital, etc…

Most of them are just scared to go into the army and protect their mothers and sisters.

  23. Just a thought for all those complaining about the Kavod of the leaders of this splinter group – “Bemakom sheyesh Chillul Hashem ein cholkin kavod larav”. This applies with respect to one who the Ma’amar calls a Rav – so it absolutely applies here.

  24. A “talmid chacham” who throws every Torah ideal into the plastic shredder in full public view has excluded himself from that classification, and has caused the greatest damage possible to genuine talmidey chachamim.
This applies with even greater force to the leaders that this perverted sect look to for guidance.
If malkiel kotler and the south fallsberg clan are somehow responsible for this abomination, then the time has arrived to stand up for what is right in the eyes of G-d and confront them for supporting an insurgency against True Torah Values.
But alas- i live 5000 miles away from them in Israel, so i dont know forsure what they are planning.
Real Gedolei Torah dont stand for bunk like peleg.

  25. Chareidi Amiti – I am as opposed to the Peleg’s nonsense as you are, and believe that those who lead and support this group are grossly incorrect – but be very careful how you refer to people. You can disagree with the leaders in question vehemently without resorting to name-calling.

  26. anIsraeliYid,
very well said .Thanks for expressing for the silent majority
This pseudo”Chareidi Amiti” has been out of hand for months

  27. It is Time for Truth – I think you may have missed my point. I agree strongly with Chareidi Amiti’s sentiments; I merely note the need to use appropriate language rather than descend to the level used by one’s opponents. It’s a poor argument that needs to rely on name-calling.

And for the record – as the proud father of sons who have served, are serving, and will serve in the IDF, and as one who thanks Hashem regularly for his gift of Jewish sovereignty in Eretz Yisrael (and it is a gift in the truest sense of the word, as we clearly do not deserve it on our own merits), I don’t think you’d consider me any sort of Chareidi.
