Border police on Monday, working along with Gas Administration and the Poultry Industry Council inspectors in three different locations, intercepted deliveries of illegal gas containers and eggs. This occurred in the Barta’a and Yokneam areas, as four suspects who were transporting illegal gas and egg containers were arrested and their vehicles impounded.
In the first center near Barta’a, two suspects were arrested, each carrying gas tanks in their vehicles without permits, thereby endangering motorists. 13 gas tanks of different sizes were found in the two vehicles. The suspects, in their 50s and 60s, residents of Jisr al- Zarka and Kafr Qara. The four were arrested and later questioned by agents of Ministry of Energy’s gas directorate.
At the second stop at the Yokneam Junction, a vehicle that appeared suspicious to police was stopped for inspection. Police and inspectors found 51 egg cartons containing a total 1,530 eggs. It is also suspected that the eggs had fake approval stamps on them and they were being transported under unacceptable health conditions and in an illegal manner that endangers the health of those who may eat them. The suspect in his 20s, a resident of Barta’a, was arrested and his vehicle impounded.
At the third stop, at Barta’a Junction, a vehicle was stopped for inspection and authorities found no less than 82 different sizes and types of gas cylinders, all illegal, in a vehicle that was not intended for transportation and without proper permits, presenting a serious risk to motorists. The suspect, a 30-year-old resident of Barta’a, was arrested and the vehicle impounded.
