Israel Police’s Lahav 433 Unit, the Serious Crimes Unit of the department and the Tax Authority are currently at the end of the conclusion of the investigation against Shas party chairman Aryeh Deri, the daily Maariv reported on Monday, 25 Menachem Av.
According to the report, the recommendations of the police and the authority will include tax offenses, fraud and breach of trust. However, the severe bribery clause, which appeared in the headlines when the Deri affair broke out, will not be included in the recommendations.
A summary of the investigation will be submitted to the State Attorney’s Office, where it will be decided whether to file an indictment against Deri for the offenses in question.
In an interview he gave to the Kikar Shabbos News, Deri referred to the investigation and said he was sure that it would end well. “I am convinced, I am convinced, I do not want to elaborate, I made a decision not to talk. This is a gift from G-d that He gave me, in order to awaken me and get closer to Him. I accept it with total love. I know what is. I know what the questions asked to me. I know what the answers are. It will take a bit of time. I have patience. I will continue to fulfill Marans (Rav Ovadia Yosef) will”, Deri stated.
