Following a request by the Likud party that Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked cease all collaborative actions between the Ministry and the Left-Wing organization ANU, the Justice Ministry has summoned the organization to a hearing. ANU is one of many left-wing organizations that receive money from the New Israel Fund. Some of these organizations have had sanctions placed upon them in recent years.
According to reports in Israeli media, this summoning is expected to be the first step taken by the Ministry to cease all connection between the Ministry and the organization.
In response, elements in the Bayit Hayehudi party responded by taking a dig at the Likud’s method of leadership, including a direct tongue-in-cheek attack at the Prime Minister, who is also the acting Foreign Minister. “As usual the Likud party is attempting to put a “spin” on things, and while doing so “shoot inside of the APC” The Likud has learned to speak strongly but do little, and this is what they are doing with this message again today. The same result could have been achieved without the spin that the Likud is putting on the issue by demanding things of the Minister, while in the meantime, Left-Wing organizations are still receiving millions from Norway and other countries. Whatever happened to the Foreign Minister?”
